All Atlas Growers cannabis—from seed to finish—is grown under a tightly controlled system called precision cultivation.
Precision cultivation begins by selecting superior varieties that have the genetic potential to produce the highest quality flower buds. Once the cultivars (cultivated varieties) are selected, the precision cultivation growth cycle begins.
Throughout its entire lifecycle, all cannabis plant material is grown in a disease- and pest-free material called rockwool. The starting material for rockwool is basalt rock that is superheated to around 1,000 C and spun like cotton candy. Spinning the molten rock into rockwool creates a substrate that provides a superior root environment. Heating kills all disease microbes and spinning the molten rock creates an ideal home for cannabis roots. Clean air, clean water and pure nutrients are the final ingredients to ensure the roots remain healthy from transplanting to harvest.
The environment outside of the rootzone is equally important. Atlas has six grow rooms that are precisely controlled with state-of-the-art equipment. All incoming air is cleaned with HEPA filters that remove 99.9 percent of impurities. The purified air is then evenly circulated throughout each grow room. Finally, lighting, temperature, relative humidity and carbon dioxide are controlled within very specific parameters 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Irrigation water is pumped from onsite wells and salts are removed via reverse osmosis—a purification system that pushes salty water through a fine membrane that leaves the salts on one side of the membrane and pure water on the other side. The pure water is then exposed to ultraviolet light that kills any disease organisms that may have bypassed the membranes.
Once the irrigation water enters the irrigation system, it is blended with precise quantities of fertilizer that closely match the needs of the plants. Every container of fertilizer is labelled with both a complete list of all ingredients and a traceable batch number. Health Canada regulates cannabis fertilizers to ensure they are free of heavy metals and other contaminants.
Once the crops are harvested, they are placed on racks and moved to drying rooms where temperatures and humidity are monitored to ensure the cannabinoids and flavour compounds are preserved, and that our customers receive the finest quality product.
